Photons travel through a turbid media on a random paths, thus it is not possible to specify neither pathlength nor location of the path in a media. However, it is possible to overcome this issue by combining acoustics and light. Ultrasound (US) scatters in tissue much less than light, so we can use it for the localization in the tissue.
