The increasingly dynamic complexity of construction and consequently the changing perception of interests and values have initiated the development of a new programme in the domain area between ‘construction engineering’ on the one hand and ‘scientific management and economics’ on the other hand.
Management and (re-) development of both real estate and urban areas are strongly interwoven and connected to the structure of the civil society and regulations of public authority. For realizing present and future goals regarding urban areas, public governance is looking for input from market parties. The demand for risk control, coming forward from the shift in financial responsibilities from public to private investments in urban areas requires tailor-made organization designs for development as well as for management of urban areas.
