Fatigue analysis of high speed aluminum crafts

The maritime industry requires high speed crafts for surveillance duties, security, rescue and interception operations to combat terrorism, piracy and drugs. In addition, this type of craft is employed as crew transport vessel and pilot boat. It is typically built of welded joined aluminum because of substantial structural weight savings compared to steel built crafts, resulting in reduced installed power and fuel consumption.
Research for the development of a tool to predict fatigue induced failure of high speed aluminum crafts in an early design stage.
