Early evaluation of lab-on-a-chip applications in which it can be predicted for different product/market combinations where the highest cost-effectiveness can be achieved. This is done by means of cost-effectiveness simulations (Markov models). For instance, for patients with heart problems, it is expected that regular measurement of blood potassium levels may have a high diagnostic value. This supports the further development and implementation of lab-on-a-chip applications.
