Laser physics

Research group aims on mastering the generation of coherent light in improved and novel ways. This requires mostly fundamental research on the interaction with matter, but it includes also an exploration of special light sources towards future applications. With lasers and nonlinear techniques we can currently cover a significant part of the optical spectrum with coherent light in various shapes, such as with continuous-wave diode lasers, self-phase-controlled cw-optical parametric oscillators, quickly tunable cw-fiber lasers and powerful excimer lasers with excellent beam quality (in the UV), TeraWatt femto-second lasers, widely tunable free-electron lasers for the far infrared, and planned schemes for the efficient generation of XUV radiation.
