Research programme encompasses the fundamentals of materials processing throughout the entire processing route. The main challenge is to obtain a fundamental insight into processing of conventional and novel materials and to establish quantitative relationships between physical processes, properties and performance.
Key issue: tackling challenging and complicated problems of modern metals processing in a multi-facetted approach.
Process-wise viewpoint onto a fundamental materials-science problem;
Consistent combination of modelling; Computer simulations; Processes and technologies related to ferrous and nonferrous metals processing, from extractive metallurgy through to casting, extrusion and coatings;
Combination of fundamental and applied research with focus on specific properties and characteristics of real industrial products. Close cooperation with industrial partners and valorisation of research results.
