MR imaging

In vivo studies in animal models are indispensable to gain an improved understanding of the pathophysiological processes and to develop diagnostic tools as well as therapeutic interventions. In recent years, the mouse has become the animal of choice in many studies of cardiovascular diseases, which is mainly due to the large number of transgenic and knock-out mice that has become available. The significant added value of MRI for studying murine models of heart diseases is well established. In this project new and improved MRI techniques are developed for functional measurements of the healthy and diseased mouse heart.
