Investigation of the possibilities to build molecularly defined, organic assemblies in two or three dimensions via non-covalent interactions between the constituents.
The aim is to study such assemblies at the individual level, and to manipulate their shape and function. A long-term goal is to store and process information at the nanoscale and use the individual assemblies to construct larger nanostructures that are the equivalent of machines, optical or electrical components.
