The research is to understand how the future use of information and communication technologies is anticipated during the design and implementation of the technology in order to understand the successes and failures of technological innovations. The research builds on recent insights that successful technological innovation requires a dynamic process of continuous interactions between the design of ICT and the contexts of use. Current research projects focus on the construction of the user in governmental electronic services; the dynamics of user-initiated innovation in open-source software; privacy and security aspects of ICT in health care.
Telemonitoring technologies and changing pratices of care. Anticipating conflicting norms in telemonitoring technologies for chronic patients. The socio-spatial effects of video-surveillance in urban nightlife districts.
