The research efforts are typically centered around the following themes:
New transport systems / new transport technology: focus on future developments, uncertainties about impacts, stakeholder prefeernces. Mainports: future mainport design, decsionmaking processes about mainports. Travel demand management: acceptance of travellers. Large infrastructure projects: costs and benefits, decisionmaking.
For these themes the focus is on the impact of external factors (such as technology, economic growth) as well as policies on the transport system, changes with that system, effects on accessibility, the environment, and safety, and evaluations of these effects from a multi-actor perspective.
